My Story

So far

Recreating Lives and Community is about reawakening to a world of connection, creativity. and love. It’s really that simple.

I have lived most of my life feeling separate and afraid.

About seven years ago I lost a good-paying job. I was devastated. I looked at my life and didn’t see anything worth living for.

So I started the process of recreating my life. I read Sacred Economics by Charles Eisenstein. In that book, he talks about changing our economic and cultural story from one of control and greed to one of cooperation and mutuality.

I realized that if we want to rewrite this story, the voices that have been left out will need to rise up and speak their truth, and they’ll need to be heard.

People who have been left behind by our capitalistic system are not invested in it. Being left behind can be a terrible and painful experience, but it has an up-side: people who are not invested in the story have the freedom to recreate new ways of living. They can recreate themselves from being the “left-behind” to being the leaders. By changing their story, they can set the example for others to follow.

Early on I my reawakening, I joined a Facebook group called Living Your Legacy founded by Scott Dinsmore. Tragically, while traveling the world with his wife Chelsea, he died in a climbing accident. It happened just the day before they would have celebrated their anniversary.

But Scott’s legacy lived on in others, including myself, as we each made a decision to begin living a life we wanted to be remembered for.

About this time, in thinking about what legacy I wanted for myself, I had the idea of starting Recreating Lives and Community.

I started a small Facebook group that I called Recreating Lives and Community. Before that I had no one I could look to as a friend, but through this group I began to find some friends. Through their kindness and friendship, this small group has given me inspiration and support in recreating a life I wanted to live.

Three of those members still part of my life.

I had my vision for Recreating Lives and Community. But I knew absolutely nothing about how to get there, how to make it come to life.

Much of my time and energy was spent changing my patterns of living that kept me in isolation and wrapped up in fear. Slowly and painfully, I began to unravel my life.

The journey backwards led me to back to what I would call my true self.

My process of reawakening has been uneven.

A Journey Through Experience

.

My passion for self discovery  are more than just a hobby—they’re integral to who I am and what I bring to the table. Through this blog, I hope to inspire you to explore your own interests and find joy in the journey.

Perspective

Traveling is more than just a hobby—it’s a way of life that shapes my perspective and enriches my soul. Each journey offers a new adventure, a chance to step out of my comfort zone and immerse myself in diverse cultures and landscapes.
I travel to see the world through different eyes, to learn from the stories and traditions of others, and to appreciate the beauty and diversity that our planet offers.
